Iraq: Assassination victims.
28th Jan 2005. Ramadi, Iraq. Iraqi National Guard/assassination victims. At dawn on the 28 Jan 2005 a US Army patrol in Ramadi, Iraq discovered the bodies of four Iraqi males killed by gunshot wounds to the head. The bodies are believed to be those of four Iraqi National Guardsmen who were kidnapped in the city on Thursday. Local witnesses report that the men were brought to the rubbish dump alive in the trunk of a car, forced into the open and then gunned down. Amongst the bodies was found a note from the 'Death squad' responsible for the assassinations confirming that the reason for the mens death was their employment as part of Iraq's security forces. With elections only days away the insurgents campaign of terror against potential voters and the officials and security personnel shows no sign of weakening.
