Kurds who previously fled or were forced from the town are retuning in droves. It is the Kurds turn to try and force out the Arabs and Turkomans who populate the urban zone...Tent cities are springing up as Kurds from more northern parts of Iraq start new lives in Kirkuk. Within days of arriving they begin work on digging foundations and laying the first breezeblocks of their new homes..The Kurdish community is strong in the business districts of Kirkuk, ever secular they combine their strong merchanting skills with National pride...
