30th April 2006..Basra, Iraq..Iraq/Iran Border Enforcement..British soldiers from the 9/12 Lancers work alongside Iraqi Security Forces along the Iraq/Iran border. The task is to combat smuggling of people, weapons and fuel across the river...The Iraqi Coastguard skim along the Shat al-Arab waterway en route to search vessels that they suspect may be smuggling fuel. They have reached a sufficient level of proffesionalism that they can patrol alone. British forces currently accompany them in a monitoring and moral support role...
